Winners of the 2010 Pharos Poetry Competition
The fourth annual Pharos Poetry Competition awards were made in April. This year's winners are:
- First prize, $500: Jenna Le of the Class of 2010 at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons for her poem, "Sestina on Limb-Lengthening Surgery."
- Second prize, $250: Ashley Mann of the Class of 2011 at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine for her poem, "Sentinels."
- Third prize, $100: Chris Marett of the Class of 2010 at the Ohio State University College of Medicine for his poem, "Pericarditis."
- Honorable mentions, $75 each: Thomas Atwater of the Class of 2012 at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston for his poem, "Ageless"; Jana Lichetenfeld of the Class of 2013 at Rush Medical College of Rush University Medical Center for her poem, "Nomenclature"; Aysha Malik of the Class of 2015 at the University of Missouri—Kansas City School of Medicine for her poem, "Cheated"; Akas Siddiqui of the Class of 2010 at the University of Toledo, College of Medicine for his poem, "Agha"; Jennifer Stella of the Class of 2012 at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine for her poem, "Umbilicus."
Winning poems will be published in future issues of The Pharos.
