ROLE MODELS IN MEDICINE
Community Function
Overview
This is a program in which students from high schools around the state come to learn more about medical school and the career of medicine. In existence since 1997, it has served as a valuable educational experience for over 100 young adults. The event takes place twice a year and includes short sessions in: radiology, pathology, physiology, anatomy, suturing and the human brain.

The dates for this year's Role Model in Medicine are February 28th and March 28th.

  Medical Jeopardy
 
  Each year in April two sessions of medical jeopardy are held. In the first session, three USC students face off with faculty members chosen by the students. Last year faculty participants included Dr. Stinson, Dr. Krantz, and Dr. Lammie and a good time was had by all. In the next session, three fourth year USC students and one third USC student face off with students from the MUSC AOA chapter. The site of competiton alternates between Columbia, SC and Charleston, SC for this event. This year, the meeting will take place at here in Columbia, SC.
   
  2003 AOA Banquet
 
  This banquet is held anually and involves dinner, induction of new members, and presentation of awards for selected physicians. This event is scheduled for May 8, 2003 at the Spring Valley Country Club. Family and friends are invited to attend and Dr. Basil Pruit from the Brook Army Burn Center in San Antonio, TX will be the guest speaker.
