Winners of the 2010 Helen H. Glaser Student Essay Awards
The twenty-eighth annual Helen H. Glaser Student Essay Awards were made in April. This year's winners are:
- First prize, $2000: Eliza Miller of the Class of 2012 at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons for her essay, "Attuning to Equilibrium: Physician as Artist, Artist as Physician."
- Second prize, $750: Amanda Redig of the Class of 2010 at Northwestern University, The Feinberg School of Medicine, for her essay, "The Monsters of Medicine: Political Violence and the Physician."
- Third prize, $500: Syed Mahmood of the Class of 2010 at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine for his essay, "A Modern Epidemic in a Historic City: Tackling Diabetes in Old Delhi."
- Honorable mentions, $250 each: Ibiayi Dagogo-Jack of the Class of 2011 at the University of Chicago Division of the Biological Sciences Pritzker School of Medicine for her essay, "That Which We Carry with Us"; Susie Morris of the Class of 2010 at Northwestern University, The Feinberg School of Medicine, for her essay, "Going First"; Srijita Mukherjee of the Class of 2011 at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine for her essay, "Stroke in Black and White."
Winning essays will be published in future issues of The Pharos.
