Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Awards
Presented each year at the Awards dinner of the Association of American Medical Colleges by the President of Alpha Omega Alpha that funds the program, this award recognizes outstanding contributions to the education of medical student by four faculty at LCME-approved schools of medicine.
Up to four general faculty awards of $10,000 each are made. In addition, each recipient's nominating institution will receive $2,500 for teaching activities. If that school has an AΩA chapter, a $1,000 stipend is awarded towards its activities.
Effective in 2010, medical schools whose nominee wins one of the Distinguished Teacher Award will not be eligible to submit another nominee during three subsequent years.
Nominees submitted by the deans are vetted by a review committee composed of past winners of the award: Two are from basic science, preclinical departments, and two are from clinical disciplines. Each nominee's application, bibliography and curriculum vitae must be received by 5:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, on Monday, May 3, 2010.
These awards are based on a national competition conducted annually through the offices of the deans of U.S. and Canadian medical schools, and are designed to recognize distinction in medical student teaching. Each school may submit one application. Recipients are selected by committees jointly appointed by AΩA and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
Queries regarding nominations should be addressed to:

The awards are presented during the annual meeting of the AAMC.
